Adolescence is often a time of great stress and turmoil not only for kids going through it, but for you, their parents as well. During the teen years, kids aggressively begin to explore a new sense of freedom, which often leads to feelings of resentment and powerlessness for parents who increasingly are excluded from their children's lives. This revised edition of Positive Discipline for Teenagers shows you how to break the destructive cycle of guilt and blame and work toward greater understanding and communication with your adolescents. Inside, you'll:
- Find out how to encourage your teen and yourself
- Grow to understand how your teen still needs you, but in different ways
- Learn how to get to know who your teen really is
- Discover how to develop sound judgment without being judgmental
- Learn how to use follow-through the only surefire way to get chores done

It works if you are willing to change
My son's junior high high school counselor highly recommends this book. In fact, she checks them out to parents who attend her monthly parenting partners seminars that refer to techniques in this book. I now have an entirely different relationship with my son. I'm becoming a more assertive single mom. It doesn't happen overnight and you can't implement all strategies at once. It takes time. But it's worth it because it works. It really does.

I work with many parents of teens in my private counseling practice, and I always start by giving them a copy of Positive Discipline for Teenagers. This book is a wonderful resource on its own, and as a supplement to counseling, it is invaluable! Parents learn so much and are often eager to talk about what they have read. Teens love it too because they see positive changes in their relationships with their parents within a few weeks, even days. I highly recommend this book!
