Facilitator Information:

Carol is a Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer who helps educators, parents and other adults build stronger relationships with the children in their lives. She brings openness and real life experiences to share, to help facilitate the learning about ourselves and the children whose lives we impact. Carol will use research-backed principles and tools that build skills, restore clarity and confidence, and bring peace into your school, classroom or home. Carol co-founded Positive Discipline of Connecticut and was the President of the organization. She also served as Co-Chair of the International Board of Directors of the Positive Discipline Association. She has worked with teachers, administrators and staff of preschoolers through high school as well as parents of all aged children (prenatal to adult). She has two adult sons and a husband of over 40 years. Their relationships continue to grow and benefit from Positive Discipline.

Becky is a Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer who has provided over 10 years of Positive Discipline training. This includes Positive Discipline for Early Childhood and Positive Discipline in the Classroom to school staff, Positive Discipline classes, workshops, and talks to parents, and team-building workshops for adults using the Positive Discipline concepts and tools. She has applied the Positive Discipline principles at home with her own family over the years, including her 21-year-old daughter, who Becky has seen using the Positive Discipline skills obtained in her own life away at college. Becky believes that a community approach to education benefits everyone and makes it easier to help families, schools, and organizations grow children into responsible, respectful, and happy adults.

Workshop Description:

This interactive on-line live workshop is designed for early childhood educators, teachers, and caregivers who work with children from birth to six years of age. (Parents will also find this workshop helpful; however, the focus is on early childhood education.) Participants will learn to apply the principles and tools of Positive Discipline, an Adlerian research-based philosophy, to working with groups of young children. They will also gain a deeper understanding of how young children learn, the importance of belonging and social and emotional learning, and how best to teach those skills in a classroom or care setting. Participants will earn recognition as Certified Positive Discipline Early Childhood Educators and will learn to:

  1. Create a classroom or care setting where children can develop a sense of belonging and significance based on the importance of contribution and mutual respect.
  2. Understand how young children learn and how to adapt teaching to the needs of this age group.
  3. Foster essential social and emotional skills to support development and school readiness, and understand behavior and how to guide it in groups of young children.
  4. Teach the essential skills for developmentally appropriate participation in class meetings.
  5. Learn Positive Discipline and Adlerian concepts for use in the classroom, preschool community, and with parents.
